For the 2024/25 academic year, the DUT administration invites applications from suitably qualified high school graduates, non-school graduates, and graduates from recognized institutions for admission to the institution’s various full- and part-time postgraduate programs.
Documents Required for DUT Applications
To apply to DUT, you must provide the following documentation:
- A completed application form, a copy of your most recent school year’s grades, and a photocopy of your identification. If you have attended another higher education institution in the past, we will need a copy of your academic transcript.
Proof of payment for the required application fee must accompany your completed application.

MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR NCV LEVEL 4 APPLICANTS
- The Higher Certificate requires a Level 4 National Certificate (Vocational) with at least 50% English.
Diploma: a National Certificate in Vocational Education, Level 4, meeting the minimum requirements listed below.
a minimum of 60% in each of the three required vocational subjects and a minimum of 50% in each of the three foundational subjects, including English. Bachelor of Science: A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 that meets the following minimum requirements:
English, along with three other core subjects, must have at least 60%; and at least 70% in four vocational National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 subjects is required.
Each department has additional entrance requirements that applicants must meet in addition to the minimum qualifications.

How to Apply for Dut Online
- Please complete the CAO application online and attach certified copies of your 12th-grade diploma and identity card (or June/Trial report if you haven’t taken your final exam yet).
For Diploma and Degree programs, the application must be received by the CAO office by September 30, and for Higher Certificate programs, by November 30.
Please check the individual programs for the appropriate end dates as some programs end prior to November 30.
Make sure to include the correct application fee—R250 for South African citizens or R300 for non-South African citizens—when filling out your application form.
Make certain that both your application and the payment get to the CAO before the deadline.
The completion of an application form does not guarantee registration or acceptance as a student.
Each candidate will be informed in writing or via SMS of the application results. A website for applications is managed by the CAO. For more details, please go to the CAO website at www.cao.ac.za.
