George Whitefield College Online Application 2024-2025
George Whitefield College was established in 1989 on the initiative of Bishop Joe Bell, who was the Church of England’s presiding bishop in South Africa at the time. The college’s founding principal was David Broughton Knox, who had previously served as the principal of Moore Theological College, Sydney, for the previous 27 years. GWC joined Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education, which is now North-West University, and Dr. Seccombe, an external New Testament professor who was accredited by NWU, in 1997. The majority of GWC students were also NWU students up until 2010, and despite following GWC’s curriculum, they were able to earn their Bachelor of Theology, Bachelor of Arts with Honors, and Master of Arts degrees from NWU. GWC has been offering its own fully accredited Council for Higher Education-accredited BTh program since January 2010.
