  • The most prestigious higher education institution in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) is the Durban University of Technology (DUT). It is in the lovely towns of Pietermaritzburg and Durban (PMB). As a University of Technology, it places a high value on the quality of its teaching and learning by ensuring that its faculty members hold the highest possible credentials.
    The prestigious Technikons ML Sultan and Technikon Natal were combined to form the Durban University of Technology in April 2002. It was originally known as the Durban Institute of Technology but later changed its name to match that of the other technical universities.
    DUT is a technology university with multiple campuses that are a part of the International Association of Universities. It is at the forefront of technological training, research, higher education, and innovation. The University’s ENVISION 2030 strategy calls for its staff, students, and other employees to become innovative and entrepreneurial.
    DUT was ranked fifth nationally and 10th in citations among the Top 500 Universities in the World in 2020. The six faculties at DUT are Arts and Design, Applied Sciences, Management Sciences, Engineering and Built Environment, Health Sciences, and Accounting and Informatics.

  • From July 1 to November 30, 2023, the Durban University of Technology Online Application will be available. Consequently, we urge prospective students to submit their applications for the 2024 academic year via the application form (Hard-Copy) as soon as possible.

Prerequisite for applying to Durban University of Technology

  • You can study for a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification because you have an endorsement on an NSC or NCV.
    You are eligible to enroll in the program if you meet all of the minimum admission requirements. Because each program has a limited number of spaces available, meeting the minimum admission requirements for your chosen or intended program of study does not guarantee admission.
    You have a minimum level of four (or fifty percent) in the UFS language of your choice: Afrikaans or English (only applicable to specific programs).
    You must pass certain high school subjects with a certain level of success to take a particular university module. Please refer to the faculty-specific admission requirements section for the required subjects and achievement levels for each program.
