As of April 2024, the South African government has discontinued the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, which previously provided a monthly payment of R350 to assist eligible individuals in South Africa who were experiencing financial difficulties due to the pandemic. Consequently, there is currently no online application process available for the R350 grant.

During the period when the SRD grant was active, eligible individuals had the option to apply for it online through the SASSA website or the SASSA WhatsApp line. The online application process required providing personal information such as name, ID number, and contact details. Additionally, applicants needed to provide details about their income and expenses, furnish their bank account information or select a SASSA-approved payment method, and submit supporting documents including ID documents, proof of income, and proof of residence. SASSA reviewed the applications and, upon approval, disbursed the grant on a monthly basis to eligible individuals.

It is important to note that there is currently no R350 grant available, and the government has not announced any plans to reintroduce the grant or implement any similar forms of financial assistance. However, eligible individuals may still apply for other social assistance programs offered by SASSA.
