Eligibility and Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Programs at the University of Cape Town (UCT). The University of Cape Town (UCT)’s undergraduate admission requirements are outlined below. Because it plays a significant role in an applicant’s acceptance to UCT, prospective students should ensure that they meet the listed requirements.
Eligibility Requirements for Undergraduate Program Admission at UCT
- For admission to the higher certificate, diploma, or degree programs, prospective students must meet the National Senior Certificate (NSC) endorsement requirements.
A mature age exemption may be available to prospective students who do not meet the minimum requirements for admission to UCT but are at least 23 years old and possess a Grade 12 (school-leaving) certificate. If you fall into this category, you should talk to the appropriate faculty office about the possibility of a conditional exemption. The Faculties of Health Sciences and Law do not consider mature-age applicants for their programs.
For matriculation exemption, prospective students must have met the requirements with secondary school certificates from countries other than South Africa.
For admission to the program or programs of their choice, all applicants must have met the minimum requirements in the final secondary school leaving an assessment. These are some:
