Every UCT online registration has a procedure that prospective students must follow when registering on the registration date. To avoid being late, students must register on time.

29 January 2022 Residences are open for all new students.
31 January 2022 Science Faculty orientation and registration commences
2 February 2022 Compulsory orientation activities & registration for all new students
14 February 2022 First day of lectures

UNDERGRADUATE RETURNING STUDENT REGISTRATION

This rule applies to all students who are academically qualified to return and were enrolled in a BSc program at UCT prior to the start of the current academic year.

Normal registration on campus will not take place. Students will need to register to use the PeopleSoft system remotely long before they return to campus. Specific instructions on how to register with PeopleSoft will be distributed in January. As a result, it’s critical that you keep checking your UCT email account.

UCT Registration Dates

In December, the system will release the final academic year’s results. On January 1, the results of the January supplementary, deferred, and summer term exams will be made public.

  • Between January 20 and January 28, 2022, all returning students who do not have any unresolved issues or missing results must register online.
    From the 31st of January to the 3rd of February, students with outstanding results—those taking supplementary, deferred, and summer term exams—must register.

Who should register and when?

At the beginning of the year, all returning postgraduates and the majority of postgraduates must register. Only new Ph.D. students and research master’s students (dissertation only) may register at any time throughout the year.

New master’s and doctoral students

You will be asked to bring a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) if you are registering for a thesis. The MoU is an agreement between you and your supervisor that lays the groundwork for the coming year.

Please note that, once your online Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been granted, you will be required to complete your online registration via the  PeopleSoft Student Administration System
