• From 2024 to 2025, online applications for UFS are accepted. Applications to the University of the Free State can be submitted online (UFS). The University of the Free State has started accepting applications for the class of 2024, so apply as soon as possible!

UFS Application Deadlines

• On September 1st, applications for any University Access Programme (UAP) offered on the South Campus and sub-regions are due.
• 31 May MBChB, Optometry, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Biokinetics
  Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, and Nursing on July 31
• International Undergraduate applications are due on August 31.
• Applications are accepted for Geology, Forensic Sciences, Music, Social Work, Community Development, All Non-Selection Programs, and Transfer Students from Other Tertiary Institutions. The deadline is September 30.
• November 1st Fine Arts
• All University Access Programs on the South Campus and sub-regions end on November 30th.

In addition to these faculties, they offer Open Distance Learning and a Business School. Students can also choose from over 22 different sports.

What are the prerequisites for enrolling at the University of the Free State?

• You are qualified to pursue a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification because you have an NSC or NCV with an endorsement.
• You have completed all of the prerequisites for enrollment in the program of your choice. Meeting the minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee admission because each program has a limited number of spots available.
• You have at least a level 4 (50%) in either Afrikaans or English, your preferred UFS language (only applicable to certain programs).
• To be eligible to enroll in a specific university module, you must have completed a certain number of high school courses.
• Each degree’s required subjects and academic levels are listed in the section on faculty-specific admission requirements.

How to Apply

Make sure you have the following items before beginning the application process:

• a working email address and a reliable cell phone number
  Along with your grade 11 results, you must submit scanned copies of your passport or ID card instead of photos.
  If you are transferring from another tertiary institution, please bring your most recent academic transcript as well as your conduct certificate.
