Important details regarding the Residence Application

• For first-time applicants, complete the academic application first, and then, using your student/reference number, complete the residence application as shown below.
  Please refer to this page for additional information regarding residence life and student housing.
  After being academically admitted to the university in January 2024 and receiving a letter of confirmation of placement in residence, you will be required to pay a residence deposit of R1220.00.
  You can only live on the campus where you are enrolled in classes; acceptance into the residence halls does not guarantee admission to the university (depending on space availability).
  Transfers of residence are not allowed.
  For a residence, only full-time undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply.
  For students over the age of 24 who are entering for the first time, residence application forms cannot be submitted online. The application form can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page.

This application form is only for new students; it does not apply to current UJ students.

How to Guide a Residence Application Online

• Step 1: To log in, enter your student number and pin.
  Step 2: After logging in, open the Student Web Systems folder.
  Step 3: Open the folder labeled “Application Process.”
  Step 4: Select the “Application Process” folder from the list on the left.
  Step 5: Select “Add New Residence Application” from the drop-down menu:
  Step 6: Fill out the highlighted fields before clicking the “Proceed With Application” button:
  Step 7: To submit your application, click the button that says “New Record.”

At UJ, accommodations will be made in a first-come, first-served manner for students. Immediately submit your residency application.
