University of Limpopo Online application requirements 2024-2025
Admission Requirements to the University Limpopo (UL) for Prospective Students. The online application criteria for the academic year 2024-2025 at the University of Limpopo are now available. Prerequisites are available at https://www.limpopo.ac.za/.
- UL stands for the University of Limpopo School. Admission requirements for all undergraduate, diploma, and postgraduate degrees in 2024/2025 are subject to change on an annual basis.
An applicant must meet the following prerequisites in order to be accepted into any first- or second-degree program of study at the University of Limpopo.
ADMISSION TO LIMPOPO UNIVERSITY CRITERIA
- The University of Limpopo (UL) admission requirements are listed in the 2024-2025 UL admission prospectus, which is available below.
Keep in mind that you must meet or exceed the entrance requirements outlined in the prospectus. Only applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply.
Exemption for the National Senior Certificate based on a bachelor’s degree (NSC)
Prospective NSC students who wish to enroll in any undergraduate program at the University of Limpopo must meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of level three achievement in Life Orientation (3).
English as a language of learning and instruction must have an achievement level of at least three, according to the university’s language policy (3). - The following are the minimum requirements for achievement in specific subjects, as specified in each Faculty’s calendar: Four 20-credit subjects must be completed with a minimum NSC achievement level of four (4) for degree programs; four 20-credit subjects must be completed with a minimum NSC achievement level of three (3) for diploma programs (3). (3). the required Admission Point Score (APS) for each faculty, as specified in the calendar
- It should be noted that meeting the required APS for a specific program does not guarantee admission.
High School Diploma (prior to 2008)
- Students who successfully completed Grade 12 prior to 2008 may apply for university admission with the regular Grade 12 Senior Certificate and full university exemption by changing their grade symbols to an APS.
National Diploma (Vocational)
- Students who have earned a National Certificate Vocational NC(V) Level 4 must meet the following prerequisites, as well as placement tests and faculty admission requirements:
- For degree programs, 3 essential subjects at NC(V) level 4 certificate with 60% (including Life Orientation) and 4 relevant vocational subjects with 70%
- Three fundamental subjects (including Life Orientation) are worth 50% of the NC(V) level 4 certificate, and three mandatory vocational subjects are worth 60% for diploma programs.
APS
A simple calculation based on NSC or Grade 12 university exemption results can easily determine if a prospective student meets the minimum admission requirements.
- The University of Limpopo and an intriguing program offered by a University Faculty.
- However, obtaining the required APS for a specific program does not guarantee admission.
- The calculation is done by adding the achievement levels from six (6) recognized 20-credit subjects that meet the Faculty’s requirements.
The levels of achievement are as follows (please keep in mind that the APS does not take into account life orientation):

Other requirements besides the NSC

Position Test
- Prospective students will be given National Benchmarking Tests by the University of Limpopo. The test results will be analyzed in terms of student profiles and appropriate support distribution.
Programs with an Extended Curriculum (ECP)
- The institution offers extended curriculum programs that are similar to standard undergraduate degree programs but allow students to complete the learning objectives in an extra year. The results of the placement tests are especially important for admission to these programs.
