  • Fees and Funding

Once you have been accepted to study the programme of your choice, fees are payable. There are average costs per year per programme, but in some programmes, there may be differences, depending on the costs of the individual modules that you choose. Fees refer to the total tuition costs, but remember that you will still have to add in extra costs for textbooks, essential photocopying and printing, transport, food and accommodation. You can apply for funding to help pay your fees. Funding takes the form of bursaries, scholarships and loans. There are financial aid options available through the NSFAS, in the form of a bursary which is not repayable. There are also bursaries available, which are generally given based on academic merit. Please remember to take note of the opening and closing dates to apply for each of the funding options and the dates when fees are due.  university of pretoria bursaries and scholarships

  • Financial Aid

The University of Pretoria cares about all our students. We know that studying at a university comes with a host of expenses for you and your family.

We know that sometimes life gets tough and that your family isn’t always able to help with paying for your fees. Job losses, cash flow crises, unexpected medical expenses and unforeseen tragedies often affect our financial status negatively. #UPCares and we understand this. We know that your education is a priority to you, and that’s why we’re trying to help students by making every rand go further for you and your family. This is how we LIVE THE UP WAY.

To have an IMPACT, we’re compiling a database of all our students who want to be considered for discounts, bursaries, and other forms of funding and financial aid benefits.

Remember that registering on this database is not a guarantee that you will receive funding, but it will help us to offer you funding when there are suitable opportunities available. This database is open to all students, regardless of household income, study programme or year of study.
